UFC 244 Fight Announcement: Corey Anderson vs Johnny Walker

August 5, 2019 by Christopher James

The UFC’s light heavyweight division has been experiencing somewhat of a resurgence with an infusion of new highly talented fighters.

One of those fighters is the fan-friendly yet vicious fighter Johnny Walker. Walker, who has made his name known after earning a contract on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in 2018 has 3 impressive wins in the octagon taking out Misha Cirkunov, Justin Ledet, and Khalil Rountree all in the first round, all by KO/TKO, total time in the octagon 2 minutes 50 seconds.

Walker now gets another test to see if he can continue to climb the ranks towards a possible matchup with division kingpin and reigning champion Jon Jones.

Corey Anderson is Walker’s next opponent and these two will face off at UFC 244 November 2nd in Madison Square Garden.

Anderson is riding his own 3 fight winning streak where he defeated Ilir Latifi, Glover Teixeria and Patrick Cummins all by decision.  However, make no mistake about it, Anderson can stand and deliver strikes, or fight on the ground. Wherever the fight goes, Anderson will be there.

Walker is the hype. Big power, fan-friendly, ready for anyone. Anderson is not a “hype guy,” but rather a very calm and composed professional who can go the distance and frustrate an athlete like Walker with his steady pace and willingness to take the fight to the deep water, somewhere Walker hasn’t been but once in his 20 professional fights.

Walker vs Anderson, a fight with possible title implications on the line takes place November 2nd in New York City’s Madison Square Garden and will be broadcast via the ESPN family of networks with the main card on ESPN PPV.
