Nick Newell has signed a one-fight deal with Bellator, promotion officials confirmed. Newell will make his promotional debut on Aug. 24 in Bridgeport, CT, against Corey Browning.
Newell who has made news over the years more because of the fact that he is a congenital amputee fighter rather than the fact that he is a fighter that has amassed a 15-2 professional record, with 12 of his wins coming in the 1st round via submission or TKO.
Newell who appeared on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series one year ago today, where he didn’t get the win was never deterred in his quest for joining one of the big shows now gets his wish. Newell is coming off a 1st round submission win at CES 56 against Antonio Castillo Jr.
Nick has signed a one-fight deal and will get to step into the Bellator cage in his home state of Connecticut where he will most certainly have the hometown crowd in his corner.
The former XFC Lightweight Champion will now have an opportunity to shine on the big stage and show the world who doesn’t already know what many of us have known forever, Nick Newell belongs in the big leagues.
