MMA Gets The Presidential Seal Of Approval At UFC 244, Yes It’s A Big Deal

November 3, 2019 by Christopher James

If only for a moment, I would like everyone to suspend their political beliefs and affiliations and think about the fact that the sitting President of the United States of America is attending a UFC event for the very 1st time in the history of the organization, and of course the Presidency of the United States!

The man that is considered to be the leader of the free world is sitting in New York City right now at the side of the octagon watching mixed martial arts!

Think about this for a minute, a little over 25 years ago we were hardly able to get any state or government leaders to sanction mixed martial arts fighting. Our beloved sport that those that have watched or been involved from the beginning knew was a legitimate form of combat and If given the chance to show everybody just how beautiful it could be, they would fall in love with it like so many of us did from the beginning.

Labeled by some as human cockfighting, it was their ignorance and their lack of willingness to see what it was all about that gave the sport a bad name by people who had the power to not allow it, even though they knew nothing about it because they were unwilling to invest a little time into it.

Today after many battles with state, local and federal authorities mixed martial arts is now legal in all 50 States. The rules have evolved to make it as safe as possible for those that compete, and there are constant evolutions and innovations that continue to make their way into the sport to keep it competitive, exciting, and again as safe as possible for these dedicated and talented athletes.

Tonight, President Donald Trump gave mixed martial arts, and all those involved the respect and credibility so rightfully deserved. This is by far the biggest support from our government ever!

I’ve always been proud of my association and work in the sport of mixed martial arts. I’ve always believed in the sport and the fighters. Tonight there’s a little more pride swelling up inside me because I watched our sport shine on the biggest sports stage possible, ESPN, and the President of the United States Donald J. Trump, who has  always been an advocate for MMA was able to truly give the respect and honor to the sport and those that compete in it.
