Long time UFC commentator and host of the most successful podcast in the world Joe Rogan has made it abundantly clear that if Dana White is able to pull off making UFC 249 happen he will not be working the commentary desk for the event!
Rogan stated that he feels the desire and determination of UFC president Dana White to make this event happen is largely due to the main event of Tony Ferguson versus Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC lightweight championship over the world.
This match up Is described by many as cursed as prior to this booking it has been booked four previous times, yet for one reason or another has never come to fruition.
Rogan spoke about this event and his reason for not taking part should it happen on his Podcast the Joe Rogan Experience.
- “I guess someone’s going to commentate it – it’s not gonna be me,” Rogan said on a recent episode of the “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “UFC is talking about putting on a fight on April 18. I don’t know how they’re gonna do that. I don’t know if they’re gonna be able to do that in the United States. They’re talking about doing it in a place with less than 10 people, just in an open arena.”
With the world walking around on virtual egg shells as they continue to try and get through this, Rogan has spoken to several experts on the subject on his Podcast, and has some legitimate questions as to how, and why this event is going to happen.
- “The thing is, how are they going to make sure nobody has it? You’re going to have to test everybody. And if someone has it, do you let them fight? What if they have it, and they’re like Idris Elba, and they have no symptoms, but they’ve got the corona? What if Khabib has the corona? Or what if Tony has the corona? Does Khabib even fight him?”
While Rogan has altered his UFC appearance schedule over recent years and basically shows up for the big pay per view events it will be strange if this event does happen for him not to be there. They do have plenty of competent announcers so the show will go on, but with an event that already going to feel pretty strange because will be no crowd in attendance, Rogan not being there add to the weirdness.
