The number one promotion on UFC Fight Pass Island Fights is taking the show on the road leaving the comfy confines of the Pensacola Bay Center behind as they head north to The Columbus Civic Center in beautiful Columbus, Georgia for Island Fights 60.
Earlier today a fight announcement of epic proportions was dropped by Dean Toole Promotions CEO Dean Toole that rocked the roster!
Jacob “Killer” Kilburn vs. Javanis J. Ross is signed. It’s a done deal and awesome news for the fight fans in Columbus, and those that will be watching around the globe on UFC Fight Pass on Thursday, October 10th.
Two young men that are going to come forward and look to end their opponent’s night at work early, and violently is exactly what fight fans are looking for. If we’re being honest, as much as everybody loves a good exciting back-and-forth fight, the reason everybody watches is that they want to see people get knocked out, and they want to see it happen as soon as the bell rings. These 2 young men bring that kind of action to any cage or ring they step into.
Ross is coming off of a signature win in his last Island Fights appearance in May at Island Fights 56 where he needed just 9 seconds to finish the highly touted Damon Minor with a vicious knee to the face that gave Ross a huge win and stopped the momentum of Minor who was tracking towards a possible Dana White Contender Series bout this summer.
Ross entered that fight as a huge underdog and had a gigantic chip on his shoulder about that. He felt he was brought in to lose, and felt as though nobody respected what he was capable of. Ross needed just 9 short seconds to let everybody know that he is to be taken seriously, and you should never underestimate what he is capable of doing to an opponent.
Jacob Kilburn, also an Island Fights veteran who had an opportunity on Dana White’s Contender Series last summer that unfortunately for him didn’t go his way. Never one to be dismayed from a bad night at the office, he went back to work in the lab and came back better than he was before.
He returned to the Island Fights ring at Island Fights 58 earlier this month where he fought Deivison Riberio.
Kilburn started slowly in the 1st round and Riberio was fighting his fight. Landing strikes at will and keeping Kilburn off balance as he tried to assess the timing and distance of his opponent. When they went back to the stools after the 1st round Kilburn was down on all the judge’s scorecards.
Jacob must have gotten one hell of a speech from his coaches in his corner between rounds because round 2 was a completely different story. Like his nickname “Killer” suggests, he was out for blood and 10 seconds later his opponent which flat on his back after 1 huge overhand right ended the fight.
Ross (4-2) and Kilburn (7-2) will certainly have no problem waging war and and trying to finish one another when they step into the ring to face off against one another October 10th inside The Columbus Civic Center in Columbus Georgia.
I will say this, this fight will not go the distance! Somebody’s night is going to end early! Jacob Kilburn wants another shot at the UFC. He had a little bit of a taste and wants more. Javanis Ross wants a little taste as well. For him, taking out another highly touted prospect in one Jacob Kilburn will certainly redirect the eyes of those watching to him, and could catapult him to the next level in the blink of an eye.
Somebody’s career is going to elevate on the night of October 10th, who’s it gonna be?
Island Fights 60 takes place Thursday night October 10th from the Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, Georgia and will air exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.
